Adani Group Enters into Hospitality Sector with Luxury Hotels at Ahmedabad Airport

The renowned Adani Group is making strategic strides into the hospitality real estate domain with plans to establish two upscale hotels adjacent to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This visionary move, highlighted by The Economic Times, involves a substantial investment of Rs 1.5 billion ($200 million) over the forthcoming five years, showcasing the conglomerate’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure and services at one of India’s thriving airports.

Positioned strategically near the international terminal, these hotels are poised to play a pivotal role in the airport’s expansive development blueprint, which encompasses the addition of retail outlets, commercial spaces, and entertainment zones. Adani Group’s venture not only signifies its debut in the hospitality sector but also underscores its intention to collaborate with seasoned operators for the management of these properties.

Although Adani Group has yet to formally comment on the hotel launch, sources suggest ongoing discussions with potential hospitality partners. Speculation hints at potential partnerships emerging at the Adani Shantigram township, hinting at the conglomerate’s broader vision for its hospitality ventures.

The addition of these two hotels is anticipated to significantly augment Ahmedabad’s luxury accommodation offerings, contributing approximately 800 rooms to the existing count of over 6,500 five-star rooms within the next three years. This expansion aligns with the burgeoning business, industrial, and tourism activities in Ahmedabad and neighboring Gandhinagar. The surge in investments and tourist influx has already catalyzed the growth of the local hospitality sector, with six new hotels launched since 2020 and two more under development along the SP Ring Road.

This development follows Fern Hotels and Resorts’ acquisition of the Metropole Hotel in Ahmedabad through a revenue-share model, as reported by Hotelier India. This acquisition marks Fern Hotels’ 24th operational hotel in Gujarat, further underscoring the state’s rising appeal as a destination for both corporate and leisure travelers.

Adani Group’s entry into hospitality at Ahmedabad airport marks a significant milestone in the city’s ongoing evolution as a key economic and tourist destination in India. It reflects a growing trend of integrating luxury accommodations with airport infrastructure to cater to the discerning needs of domestic and international travelers.
